Hiedra means ivy: Ivy that tangles, ancient ivy that sprouts in a forgotten corner,
ivy of my patio, of the grandmother and the summers, ivy that climbs like music, strings and fingers, silence and voice.Ivy that travels through the centuries and takes root in our hands.
This is music of ancestors.
Hiedra is a duo formed by the Dutch guitarist Johan Timmermans and the Spanish singer Paloma Lázaro Arteaga.
Johan graduated in classical guitar in 2019 at the Fontys Academy of Music and Performing Arts and since then he has been an active musician participating in all kind of projects.He is a versatile guitarist playing all kinds of styles from Medieval and classical music, to Middle east music or even Reggae.
Paloma graduated in 2023 in jazz vocals at the Fontys Academy of Music and Performing arts after years of studying classical voice ,classical piano and free improvisation in Spain.She has developed an unique sound blending her Spanish roots and her jazz and classical knowledge.
Together they reinvent traditional Spanish and Latin American folk music from Atahualpa Yupanqui to Silvia Perez Cruz with influences from classical ,jazz and world music.

Hiedra que se enreda, hiedra antigua que brota en un rincón olvidado , hiedra de mi patio ,de la abuela y los veranos, hiedra que trepa como música, cuerdas y dedos, silencio y voz .Hiedra que viaja a través de los siglos y se enraíza en nuestras manos.

Hiedra es un duo formado por el guitarrista holandés Johan Timmermans y la cantante española Paloma Lázaro Arteaga.
Johan se graduó en guitarra clásica en 2019 en Fontys Academy of Music and Performing Arts y desde entonces ha participado en todo tipo de proyectos como músico .Es un guitarrista muy versátil que abarca repertorio desde música medieval y clásica a música árabe o incluso Reggae.
Paloma se graduó en 2023 en jazz vocal en Fontys Academy of Music and Performing arts, tras años estudiando canto clásico ,piano clásico e improvisación libre en España.Ha creado un sonido único combinando sus raíces españolas con sus influencias y conocimientos de jazz y música clásica.
Juntos reinventan la música tradicional folclórica española y latinoamericana desde Atahualpa Yupanqui a Silvia Perez Cruz con influencias de la música clásica,el jazz y world music.
